Poodle Parks ~ Muir Woods!

It seems as though I have forever wanted to visit Muir Woods.

Located a mere half-hour from me, it should've been an easy desire to fulfill.
And yet, like so many things, I took it for granted that I would visit the park someday, and then never did.

This is an ongoing problem for me. Eek!

I love this vintage travel ad!

I live in Northern California where I'm surrounded by beautiful places. Vineyards! Redwoods! The Pacific Coast! It all gets wrapped up in one word, "scenery". It's simply a part of where I live.

Terrible, I know.

So this summer I have vowed to Go and See and Feel and Do!

First up, Muir Woods.

Declared a National Monument by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1908, the park was named after John Muir who called it, "...the best tree-lovers monument that could possibly be found in all the forests of the world."

I was captivated.

I stood surrounded by old growth coastal Redwoods, some 800 years old, enchanted by the silence of the woods. Redwood Creek burbled by, the wind sighed in the boughs,  and sunlight dappled the forest floor. It was wondrous.

Rounding out the day of discovery, we drove a few minutes west of the park to Muir Beach.

How have I never been to Muir Beach?!? It was stunning! Breathtaking! Soft sand and warm (for Northern CA) water! And then a local went galloping by on a horse! Hello!! Dream beach!

It was a perfect first adventure. :)

Where shall I go next?..
