Foxes and Deer and Ravens, Oh My!

Hi'ya Poodles! Sorry I've been MIA… Parky's has been kicking my butt!

So this past weekend I headed up to Fort Bragg for some rest, relaxation, and retail! Haha!

Tippy moved to Fort Bragg with her parents a few months ago,
and this was my first visit to her new home. Given
that this is the view out her kitchen window, I can almost
forgive her! Almost… ;)
Hello Mr. Fox!
Young bucks frolicked outside the living room window!
I may be feeling more forgiving… Hehe!
Besides my regular favorites (Paul Bunyan/State of the Ark), I visited the most darling antique shop, Todd Farmhouse!

Why do I heart the Ark?
Because it holds gems like this: an early edition of
A Little Princess! Beautiful!!!
I can't believe I've never visited this historic location before! It was filled with the very best in vintage treasures, and reasonably priced! Shop owners Jill and Judy are exceptionally warm and hospitable. I adored the farmhouse, which was built by Judy's great-grandfather! Instead of the usual shop displays, Todd Farmhouse invites you to explore it's rooms, each one staged with the shop's vintage wares.

A plethora of treasures awaits you at the lovely
Todd Farmhouse!
After the joys of Todd Farmhouse, I made my way to Laurel Street and the scent-sational delights of Bella Mia! My favorite for bath-time bubbles and luscious lotions. (Owner Sheila Struckmeyer is a genius with scents and skin care!)

Bath-time delights!
Had to stop in at fabulous Mendocino Vintage and treat myself to some beautiful (and affordable!) bakelite!!! I highly recommend this well-stocked, well-organized, and wel-comeing shop! I came in about ten minutes before closing, EEK, and owner Gloria gladly assisted me. As well as allowing Tippy and I to peruse her gorgeous goods!

Why yes, that is an armful of bakelite! EEK!!
The three red are on "long-term loan" from some dear friends,
and the gorgeous remaining bangles were found at
Mendocino Vintage!
Then Tippy and I headed on over to Tangents for some laughs and kitschy home goods.

"There's no place like home," especially when home
includes cozy socks and a warm fire!
On Sunday I took a break from my shop-a-thon, and made my way to MacKerricher State Beach. I soaked up the sun's rays, breathed in the ocean breezes, and visited with winsome wildlife. (Ah, Alliteration! HA!)

The waves were amazing that day! But by far, my favorite part
was making friends with this handsome raven! He was a dear!
It has long been a dream of mine to have a pet raven;
they are such intelligent birds!
I headed home Monday, but first made a stop in town to see cute Sydney Jayne at her new job; she now works at Pippi's Longstockings- a fantastic little sock shop. I got Spock Socks!!! They crack me up!

As always, Fort Bragg was the restorative respite I needed! Love that town!!

With this comfy pink bed, and a cat called Salome waiting,
I can't wait for my next visit to Tippy's place!

Treasure Hunting

It's time for another episode of "Confessions of a Vintage Hoarder Collector"!

In this segment, will CoriLynn find the vintage treasure of her dreams? Will she spot that Pyrex bowl she's been seeking? Or will she merely drive Husband mad with her consignment shopping?

Dun, dun, dunnnnn!!

HAAAAA!

Poodles I'm on the hunt! The consignment hunt!

I've been scoring big time at our local second-hand shops, and it has been fu-nnnn! I may have formed a slight addiction.

Bakelite handles!
May I buy it please???
Husband just snorted.

Ok, ok. It may be a HUGE addiction! I can't help it! When I walk into a consignment shop, and smell that musty goodness (haha!), I feel my heart quicken with excitement. What will I discover? What treasures await me?

My first bakelite find!
Just look at those gorgeous handles!
And of course, when I do find something ah-mazing, it makes the hunt that much more exciting!

My most awesome find yet!!!
A vintage travel game set, FULL of bakelite beauty!!
The problem is…

Elegant Elgin Clock
I'm running out of room.

Terrific ten dollar table!
Look how great it is with a fabulous lamp from AtomicLulu,
and a $2 Goodwill shade!
The HORROR!!!

Oh how I wanted this glorious regency hamper!
But alas! I already have one in gold!!
How do I keep the hunt alive, if I have no place to put all my awesome finds?!

No room, schmo room!
I can put it somewhere!!
Solution: Start an Etsy shop! That way I can keep shopping, keep what my house can fit, and sell what it can't!

I wanted a tv lamp for so long,
and then I found this lovely deco-style one!

And then I found this stunning swan one!!
What do I do?? I adore them both!
So, I've gone and done it Poodles; I've started an Etsy shop. Yippee!!!

I can continue to hoard collect, enjoy all the fantabulous vintage goodness, and then pass it along to a fellow treasure hunter!

The only time I actually teared up while shopping,
was when I found the above copy of Anne.
And I was filled with joy when I found all my childhood favorites!
Louisa May Alcott classics, and one of my most cherished novels,
Five Little Peppers and How they Grew!
Since Husband suggested it, he can't really get upset when I ask him for that next ride to Goodwill, right?

My home away from home!
Hahahahaha!
Right Husband?? Right?!

I received another snort.

Anyhoo… check out my shop Poodles!! It's conveniently named, "Poodles and PinCurls", because I am super imaginative like that! Ha!  I hope you like it!!

Happy Treasure Hunting!!!

Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy...

One year ago today, I started writing a silly little blog about how-to have vintage style, despite being a massive procrastinator.

One year ago, TODAY, I wrote my first Poodles post!! And I remembered to celebrate!! HA!

So Poodles I want to say…

…happy happy happy happy Happy Anniversary!!!

I did it! I actually stuck with something for a whole year!!! I posted regularly (well, pretty regularly hehe), and I loved every minute of it!!

Thank you Poodles!!! Thank you for reading and caring and listening! Your comments over these past months have encouraged me immensely.

Parkinson's can really get a gal down sometimes, so this blog has been the bright point of many a day. And although it is hard to write at moments, due to a fuzzy brain and hands that just won't work, I know I can return in a day or two and post something new and fun. And that makes me ever-so grateful and delighted!!

You are the best Poodles!!! And I hope I get to say to you, again and again…
