Treasure Hunting

It's time for another episode of "Confessions of a Vintage Hoarder Collector"!

In this segment, will CoriLynn find the vintage treasure of her dreams? Will she spot that Pyrex bowl she's been seeking? Or will she merely drive Husband mad with her consignment shopping?

Dun, dun, dunnnnn!!

HAAAAA!

Poodles I'm on the hunt! The consignment hunt!

I've been scoring big time at our local second-hand shops, and it has been fu-nnnn! I may have formed a slight addiction.

Bakelite handles!
May I buy it please???
Husband just snorted.

Ok, ok. It may be a HUGE addiction! I can't help it! When I walk into a consignment shop, and smell that musty goodness (haha!), I feel my heart quicken with excitement. What will I discover? What treasures await me?

My first bakelite find!
Just look at those gorgeous handles!
And of course, when I do find something ah-mazing, it makes the hunt that much more exciting!

My most awesome find yet!!!
A vintage travel game set, FULL of bakelite beauty!!
The problem is…

Elegant Elgin Clock
I'm running out of room.

Terrific ten dollar table!
Look how great it is with a fabulous lamp from AtomicLulu,
and a $2 Goodwill shade!
The HORROR!!!

Oh how I wanted this glorious regency hamper!
But alas! I already have one in gold!!
How do I keep the hunt alive, if I have no place to put all my awesome finds?!

No room, schmo room!
I can put it somewhere!!
Solution: Start an Etsy shop! That way I can keep shopping, keep what my house can fit, and sell what it can't!

I wanted a tv lamp for so long,
and then I found this lovely deco-style one!

And then I found this stunning swan one!!
What do I do?? I adore them both!
So, I've gone and done it Poodles; I've started an Etsy shop. Yippee!!!

I can continue to hoard collect, enjoy all the fantabulous vintage goodness, and then pass it along to a fellow treasure hunter!

The only time I actually teared up while shopping,
was when I found the above copy of Anne.
And I was filled with joy when I found all my childhood favorites!
Louisa May Alcott classics, and one of my most cherished novels,
Five Little Peppers and How they Grew!
Since Husband suggested it, he can't really get upset when I ask him for that next ride to Goodwill, right?

My home away from home!
Hahahahaha!
Right Husband?? Right?!

I received another snort.

Anyhoo… check out my shop Poodles!! It's conveniently named, "Poodles and PinCurls", because I am super imaginative like that! Ha!  I hope you like it!!

Happy Treasure Hunting!!!

    1. I love all the Louisa May Alcott stories, and I feel like hardly anyone has read past Little Women. The whole series was wonderful, plus all her other novels. I was so happy to find a few of them!
I will keep my eyes open for some copies for you! 💜

    1. Thanks Daffny! I didn't realize how many were in town, until a friend took me consignment shopping one day. I seriously kept saying, "I didn't know this was here!" Hospice Thrift and Goodwill are my favorites. They have amazing finds, and the money I spend there goes towards helping people in the community.
San Francisco has many a shop, but they too are pricey! You can shop Goodwill online. Seriously awesome prices and finds, just make sure and check the shipping options!

  4. My word, darling gal, if you're going to post about amazing vintage filled thrift stores like this on a regular basis, I'm going to have to invest in some good old-fashioned smelling salts, because it was all I could do not to pass out from the sheer awesomeness of everything as I scrolled this this entry. Heavens to Betsy! You found some show-stoppingly stellar items. We have nothing, and I mean nothing, like this (or anywhere near close to it) on the thrift store front in Canada any more.

Huge congrats on everything you found! I love it at - and am thinking, I need to take a big road trip one day to come visit you and go thrifting in your amazing neck of the woods!

    1. Hehe! I'm thinking you most definitely need to come visit! ;) Wait 'til you see the crazy-fabulous handbags I scored this past Saturday!
It has been pretty awesome shopping lately, but still nothing price wise as amazing as Portland! That town is vintage heaven. I think we should all take a trip there!!
You can check shopgoodwill.com for some serious vintage awesomeness, but I'm not sure about shipping to Canada. Sometimes they do eBay auctions too though.

    1. I would love to get to an estate sale! It is hard for me to get out sometimes, so when I get a chance, I make a full day of it! I've had some great finds lately, but a lot of the time I find nothing. Oh well! It keeps the hunt alive! ;)
