Hot Hot Hollywood!

Hollywood!!!

How thrilling that name must have sounded to starlets of the "Golden Age of Hollywood"! It was a town that could make or break you. It meant sunshine and riches and the smell of orange blossoms. It meant handsome co-stars, and endless love affairs. And don't forget all that adoration from fans!

Ok, maybe that's not how it was; but in my dreamy mind, that is how I always pictured it. Blame TCM and Robert Osborne. And the influence of the Sunfire series, "historical-romance" novels that my sister and I read in our early teens. (Hehe, we loved those books! But we cared more about the romance than the history!)

Wasn't Hollywood just like this?! HA!

So of course when I went for my recent visit to Redondo Beach, I had to make a trip out to Hollywood right?? I had to see the Hollywood Sign, walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and naturally I had to step in the concrete footsteps of my favorite stars outside the historical Grauman Theatre! (Weirdly, they all had extremely tiny feet!)

Some of my favorite stars!
And us being Marilyn and Jane! Hehe!
But what I REALLY, REALLY wanted to do, was to go shopping at the new Miss L Fire Hollywood store!! Ha!

Shoes for days!!!
Poodles it was... AH-MAZING!!! From the retro decor-to the insane sales-to the adorable sales girls, it was all I had wished for and more!

Loved the turnstile into the Employees Only area!
Not to mention that rack of Trashy Diva dresses!!!
I have no words for these beauties!
Thank you to these amazing ladies!!
I came home with five gorgeous pairs of shoes! My friend (not at all vintage/retro/rockabilly, but always fashionable) came home with three pairs. The sales were that good, and the shoes that cute and comfortable.

I'm in love!
The Sunset Strip was awesome, but shopping the hot sales at Miss L Fire was even more awesome! Hehe!

I'm thinkin' the fall/winter collection will be on sale in about 5 months...

Although not strictly a "vintage shoe"...

...Miss L Fire is most definitely vintage inspired!

...anyone up for some Spring shopping?!

  2. Sounds like you had a lot of fun!

Have I mentioned that my grandmother performed in vaudeville?
My mother did a lot of drama club acting and wanted to be a star!
She passed down a love of old Hollywood to me. ♥

    1. Your grandmother sounds amazing! We always watched old movies in our house growing up. :) The "Golden Age of Hollywood" sounded so romantic to me.

  3. Five gorgeous pairs, my stars! I think that would feel like Christmas, my birthday, Valentine's Day, Easter, and Halloween all rolled into one, because I would be that crazy excited about all my new footwear! :) My feet are a bit hard to fit and I've had lousy luck ordering shoes online over the years, so I've never taken the plunge with Miss L Fire, but the more I see their offerings on the blogs of my sweet online friends, the more I'm tempted (as I doubt I'll anywhere near one of their shops anytime soon). Would you say that they fit quite true to size? Do you feel like they tend to run on the narrow size? Any other advice or thoughts you'd share with a prospective Miss L Fire shopper?

*PS* Thank you deeply for your comment on my post about seeing Calgary again. I know just how much you relate, honey, and feel blessed that we each have some positive points in our lives, like our passion for vintage and our wonderful husbands, to counterbalance the challenges, pain, and stress of life as a chronic illness fighter. Please know that I'm always here for you for you, if you ever need someone to talk to about anything.

    1. Thank you so much my sweet friend! <3
I wear between a 6.5-7 US size, which should make me a 37 according to Miss L Fire's Euro sizing. But I purchased all 38's. Some are a tad big on me, but the 37's were too small. I think this is just how it goes when in between sizes though. The shoes are all extremely comfortable, even for my friend who has a back injury.
That being said, I hate ordering shoes online! It is always a gamble. Ugh! Unless a site has amazing returns, I usually won't do it. But Miss L Fire might just be worth it! ;)
